The Designer and Creative Director
Maury Cesair is a Chicagoan fashion designer based in Neustadt an der Weinstrasse, Germany. Through his artistic and creative designs in fashion, Maury contributes to the narrative of women empowerment and equality as he calls it “The Grit and Grace of a Woman”. This creative direction was manifest through his experience and examples of a what a strong woman is from his mom, his aunt’s , grandmothers and the women he served in the U.S Army with. Throughout his life Maury knows nothing less of strong woman. He always admires the strength that women possessed and celebrate that strength in his designs. Always having that strong woman in mind he combines his cultural experiences with essence of the military to create eclectic, bold and exciting designs.
During his teenage years, Maury and his grandmother, Bennie Barron, grew to have a special bond as she taught him the basics of sewing and spent all their time together doing projects and crafting.
At the age of 19, he left the country for the first time and moved to Japan for college and cultural experience. After a year he moved back to the United States, joined the U.S. Army only to be sent back out of the country to serve in Germany and in the Middle East, for the Iraq War.
Being isolated for a year in Iraq gave me the perfect opportunity to focus all of my free time towards art and designing. Torn between being a Graphic Artist and Fashion Designer I figure out what I want to do with my life after watching “The Devil Wears Prada”, fashion made the most sense.
Traveling around Europe, Maury experienced the city life of London, Paris, Madrid, Milan, and Amsterdam, which also gave him an insight of the Haute Couture and the high fashion world in which he fell in love with.
“I was right where I belonged, at the heart of fashion”
In 2011, Maury left the Army to pursue fashion. However, instead of letting his equipment and uniforms go to waste, he decided to create his first mini collection, which he dedicated it to his time in the Army. From there he decided to move back home to Illinois to further his fashion education and construction using my GI Education benefits.
While in school he began to design for clients, sell his designs and worked closely together with a Chicago base magazine UstyleU, as well as being featured in the UK based magazine Fashion Affairs, and countless blog-sites. He showcased two collections in Chicago, which received major attention in the Chicagoland area and Midwestern fashion district.
After his second season showcasing, Maury was then given the opportunity to work in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia as a contractor; supporting the training mission of the ministry of National Guard. Here he met and designed for some inflectional fashion people in the Middle East fashion district and was offered to showcase his work at their events, which were located in Riyadh, Jeddah, and Khobar. He also became a member of the Dubai Fashion Council.
Maury is Planning and working on towards making CESAIR globally known as a lifestyle brand catering to women, men, kids and pets – offering other collection lines that are sustainable and green, along with home décor, landscaping, food and beverages, and more. Giving back and supporting the community is something he strongly believe in and plan to start an organization that gives back to the community by offering beautification services, fashion and “green” education, scholarships and more. With such a big dream it is impossible to do it all on his own and if you are passionate about supporting this plan you can do so by sending an inquiry on the “Contact Us” page.
